FAQ

Do you offer decaffeinated coffee?

Yes we do. Please send a request to info@venturacoffeeco.com.

How long will whole beans keep fresh?

Once opened coffee will remain fresh for up to 14 days if stored in an airtight container.

How long will ground coffee keep fresh?

Once opened ground coffee will remain fresh for up to 7 days if stored in an airtight container.

Why do whole beans keep fresh for twice as long as ground coffee?

Exposure to oxygen speeds up the oxidation process which in turns speeds up the staling process. Ground coffee has a greater surface area to oxygen than whole beans.

Are all coffee grinders created equal?

No. The three things to look out for in coffee grinders are, the grinding process, the speed at which the motor operates (revolutions per minute or rpm), and the grind settings.

Some grinders use a spinning blade to "cut" coffee beans while other grinders use a spinning burr to "crack" coffee beans. The burr grinder is much more superior to the blade grinder for achieving a consistent grind resulting in a smoother cup of coffee.

Low rpm or slower motor speed is also import in a coffee grinder to avoid heating the coffee before it is brewed. Heating coffee through the grind process will result in a burnt flavor upon brewing.

Lastly, grind settings allow for various degrees of grind for different brew methods. A grinder with many graduations or a step-less graduations will allow you to use one grinder for both espresso and French press.

Should I store my coffee in the freezer?

No. The most effective means of storing coffee is in its packaging. Most coffee bags are equipped with plastic valves that allow air to pass in one direction only, in other words these valves block air from entering the bag and begin the staling process.

After opening, its best to roll the bag top down to squeeze out as much air as possible and seal using either a tin tie, rubber elastic or resealable tape.

Is dark roasted coffee stronger than light roasted or medium roasted coffee?

No. Roast profile affects flavour more than intensity. Intensity of flavour is more dependent on water to coffee ratio and brew process.

Why do you not offer light roasted espresso?

Light roasted espresso is not pleasing to the palate. It is one dimensional and flat. We want you to enjoy every espresso and not disappoint you.

What happens if I’m not completely satisfied with my order?

Please send us an email explaining why we didn’t meet your expectations and we will find a resolution.
